Brand & visual identity
Type systems, colour, and the rules that keep a brand consistent once other people start using it.
A type system, a palette, and the rules that keep them consistent once we are no longer the ones applying them. Usually alongside a site rather than on its own — an identity is easiest to judge in use.
What it covers
- Typographic system with a defined role per voice
- Palette specified with contrast checked per pair
- Usage rules written down, so the system survives us
What it isn’t
Not a logo on its own. A mark with no system around it is the thing most likely to be applied inconsistently and then blamed for it.
